Across The Horizon is a web-basedplatform that connects young people with scholarships, internships, apprenticeships, SME tools, jobs, loans, work and study abroad opportunities

We exist to helpstudents reach their educational and financial goals!

There are currently over 1 billion people in Africa and about half of them are between the ages of 14 and 25. That’s a lot of people, and that’s what’s terrifying.

According to Gallup World, in 2013, the 10 countries with the highest proportion of residents living in extreme poverty were all in sub-Saharan Africa. Extreme poverty is defined as living on $1.25 or less a day. In 2010, 414 million people were living in extreme poverty across sub-Saharan Africa. According to the World Bank, those living on $1.25 a day accounted for 48.5 percent of the population in that region in 2010.

Fewer than 20 percent of African women have access to education. Uneducated African women are twice as likely to contract AIDS and 50 percent less likely to immunize their children. Meanwhile, the children of African women with at least five years of schooling have a 40 percent higher chance of survival.

As innovators, we challenged ourselves to rethink this paradigm. We believe that accessible quality education, funding to pursue sustainable small business ideas, and access to jobs and marketable skills are all critical to changing this rhetoric.

Because every student is unique, we believe there needs to be a student-centered platform that can play a vital role in connecting each student to various local and international scholarships, internships, apprenticeships, and SME funding opportunities. Every African student should be empowered to break the cycle of poverty by giving them the opportunity to, especially the female students who are almost always disenfranchised.

This is why we started Across The Horizon.
